The following course is structured to provide context to entering project-related financial information. The importance of financial information is unmissable in the budgeting process and heavily regulated within local government through the Municipal Standard Chart of Accounts (MSCOA) and succeeding circulars and business processes. It is within this context that this course takes a look at how to access and manage project-related financial information and understand financial information linked to a project’s lifecycle through the following:

• An introduction to financial information linked to a project’s lifecycle, followed by defining key concepts and system terminology.
• How to access and navigate the project finances menu on the system.
• Planning finances for pre-project expenditure and alignment thereof to MSCOA.
• Planning for capital expenditure and project implementation.
• Planning for post-implementation expenditure and revenue, followed by the alignment thereof to MSCOA.
• Accessing project-related financial information and dashboards for reporting purposes.

After completing this course, users of the system will be equipped to:

1. Understand project-related financial information following a project’s lifecycle.
2. Capture and plan project-related pre-project, and post-implementation expenditure/revenue, which is MSCOA compliant.
3. Capture and plan project-related capital expenditure.
4. Extract various financial-related project information.
