The following course is structured to assist with understanding what the mapping of a project entails, how various project maps can be accessed as part of a project’s technical information and how to navigate the project map. Locating a project on a map is of vital importance during the planning and reporting stages of any organisation’s budgeting process. It provides the organisation with numerous options for the testing of strategies, evidence-based budgeting and flexible mapping and reporting capabilities.

The course has the following main topics:

  • An introduction to project mapping and the different mapping types available on the system.
  • The definitions of key concepts and system terminology.
  • What to do when a project does not have a project location per sé (for example a moving asset).
  • How to access and navigate the map functionality on the system.
  • How to draw a project’s location and the “affected area” of the project.
  • Using project maps for reporting purposes.

After completing this course, users of the system will be able to:

  1. Differentiate between projects with a location on a map versus projects tagged as “City Wide” or “Administrative HQ”.
  2. Understand the difference between a project’s work location and the “affected area” of a project.
  3. Draw a project’s location and affected area.
  4. Make use of the mapping capabilities of the system to draw bespoke reports from the system.
  5. Extract various map-related project information from the system.
